چکیده

Abstract. We have derived the behavior of decadal temperature trends over 24 h local time, based on zonal averages SABER data, for years 2012 to 2014, from 20 100 km, within 48? Equator. Similar results not been available previously. find that trends, mean measurements at a fixed can be different those made time. The vary significantly in even hour hour. This agrees with some findings nighttime lidar measurements. knowledge is relevant because large majority measurements, especially stratosphere, are by instruments sun-synchronous operational satellites which measure only one or two times, duration their missions. In these cases, various satellite data tied specific times each instrument samples and then also biased Consequently, care needed comparing other, unless all measured same caution when models, since means 3D models reflect both longitude Consideration merging sources produce generic, continuous, longer-term records. Diurnal variations themselves, form thermal tides, well known due absorption solar radiation. least part reason amplitudes phases tides themselves follow time span data. Many past efforts focused values effect unintended orbital drifts, result drifting temperatures measured. However, has researched. derive estimates simulating drift orbits. Our comparisons found others (Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit, AMSU; lidar) favorable informative. They may explain, part, bridge between daytime AMSU examples do pattern, more study needed.

Mobile Rayleigh Doppler lidar for wind and temperature measurements in the stratosphere and lower mesosphere.

A mobile Rayleigh Doppler lidar based on the molecular double-edge technique is developed for measuring wind velocity in the middle atmosphere up to 60 km. The lidar uses three lasers with a mean power of 17.5 W at 355 nm each and three 1 m diameter telescopes to receive the backscattered echo: one points to zenith for vertical wind component and temperature measurement; the two others pointing...
